Moong dal sambar

Ingredients

Veggie -lady’s finger-1 cup

(optional)carrot,pumpkin,tomato,brinjal

Tamarind paste-1 cup

Moong dal-1/2 cup

Green chili-1

Ghee-1tbsp

Gingely oil(optional)

Turmeric -1/4tsp

Sambar powder-2tsp

Mustard-1/4tsp

Fenugreek seeds-1/4 tsp

Curry leaves

Asafetida-1/4tsp

Rock salt-1tsp

Method:

Pressure cook moong dal with four whistles and keep aside the mashed dal.

In a pan add ghee and add mustard and fenugreek to it.

Then add green chili and curry leaves

Once they start to splitter add the cut ladysfinger and sauté for 5 mins.

Then add the tamarind paste water and add salt,turmeric ,asafetida and salt to it.

Then to it add the sambar powder and allow it to boil for 8 minutes.

Then add the mashed dal to it and allow it to sit on low for 5 minutes and the drizzle with little ghee or gingely oil and remove of the flame.

Serve this sambar hot with idly,dosa,rice.!
