Well this is quite similar to parupusili. But only difference is instead of thuvar dal I have used Urad dal and added sesame seeds and for spice pepper corns.
This was taught to me by my husbands grandmother. And she dint add pepper corns but I did try with it. And not bad. Result game well though.!!
INGREDIENTS:
1. Beans – 2 cups
2. Urad dal – 1/2 cup
3. Chana dal – 1 hands full
4. Pepper corns – 2 tsps
5. Black sesame seeds -2 tsps
6.Oil – 2 tablespoons
7.Curry leaves
8.Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
9. Salt
10.Asafetida powder -3/4 tsp
11. Ghee – 2 tsps
12. Mustard -3/4 tsp
13. Urad dal -1 tsp
14.Chana dal – 1/2 tsp
15. Red chili -1
METHODOLOGY:
1. Boil the chopped beans adding salt and strain and keep them aside.
2. In a bowl soak the Urad dal and chana dal for 20 mins. Strain them and add it to the blender, to it add the sesame seeds, pepper corns, turmeric powder, asafetida powder and salt. Coarse grind them.
3. In a pan add oil, the mustard, chana dal, Urad dal and red chili. Then add the curry leaves and the grounded dal paste. Spread them evenly and cover it with lid and cook them on low flame for 7 mins.
4. Add the boiled veggie and cook everything together for 5 more mins.
5. Drizzle them with ghee and serve hot with rice.
