Ingredients
Basmati rice -3/4 cup
Beetroot- 1/2 cup chopped
Peas-1/4 cup
Onion – 1 big
Capsicum-1/2
Water -1 1/4 cup
Ginger garlic paste-1tsp
Garam masala powder-1 tsp
Chana masala powder-1/2tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Salt-1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves
To grind:
Small onions-6
Green chili-1
To temper:
Oil-2tbsp
Ghee-1/4 tsp
Cinnamon-1/2
Star anise-2
Cardamom-2
Method:
To start with you can cook in two methods. Either cook everything together in pressure cooker with one whistle.
But I used the pan method.
Boiled beetroot on high for 6 mins in microwave and kept aside.
Grind small onion and green chili together and keep the paste aside.
In a pan add oil and the ground masala items to it.
Then add chopped onions to it and then also add ginger garlic paste to it.
Sauté it for five mins and then add capsicum chopped and turmeric powder to it.
Then to it add peas and then salt to it. And then add little water.
Then add the chopped beetroot.And add garam masala powder and Chana masala powder to this.
Then add basmati rice to it.
And add the water to it.
Then cover it with lid and cook it for 6 to 7 mins on medium low..
Then switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves and then drizzle with ghee..
And serve hot with onion raitha .!
•if you prefer even cooked Chana can be added to it.!
