It’s yesterday’s vendiya sambar..!
Sharing it late..
Ingredients
Onion-1
Thuvar dal-1/2 cup
Small onions-1/4 cup
Tomato-1
Methi leaves-1 cup
Tamarind extract-1 cup
Green chili-2
Turmeric-1/2 tsp
Red chili powder -1/2 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Sambar powder-2 tsp
Asafetida-1/4tsp
Salt as needed
Gingely oil-2tsp
Ghee-1tsp
Mustard-1/2tsp
Thuvar dal-1/2tsp
Curry leaves
Method
Wash and chop vendiya keerai(Methi leaves)1 cup
Then cook one onion and dal in pressure cooker adding turmeric and mash it well and keep aside..
Then in a pan add oil,small onion shallots,green chili and tomato..
Then add the vendiya keerai(Methi leaves)
Add tamarind juice to it,then asafetida, salt,turmeric,red chili powder,coriander powder and sambar powder..
Allow them to boil for 7 mins..
I dint add rice flour paste for thicker consistency as adding the onion with dal thickened it..(so add dal)
Let it be ter for 5 mins on low to medium..
Drizzle one teaspoon of gingely oil(personal choice for all my kuzhambu and sambar)
Then temper by mixing gingely oil,ghee,mustard seeds and thuvar dal,curry leaves..
Dint add fenugreek seeds as we have added vendiya keerai(Methi/fenugreek leaves)…
Hot sambar is ready to be served with rice,idly,dosa.!
