Dal kichdi

Ingredients

Masoor dal-2tbsp

Moong dal-2 tbsp

Rice-1/4 cup

Onion-1

Green chili-1

Ginger- small piece

Coriander powder-1tsp

Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp

Asafetida-1/4 tsp (optional)

Mustard-1/4 tsp

Cumin-1/4tsp

Salt- 1/2tsp

Red chili-1

Ghee-4 tbsp

Method:

Wash rice and dal together.

Now Mix dal and rice and add turmeric to it and pressure cook with 4 whistles.

Then in a pan add ghee and add the chopped onions and green chili & ginger and sauté well for two mins.

Add turmeric to it and lil salt for onions alone.

Then remove the rice from cooker and mash it by adding salt ,asafetida and water to it and then add the fried onions to it and add ghee to the rice.

Then in the same pan add some more ghee and add mustard,cumin and red chili and temper it on the rice.

Hot and delicious dal kichdi is ready.

Very simple and tasty and easy dish and healthy for kids too.

Tomatoes can be added and even carrots but I dint add because my kids won’t eat. Please try adding them too.

Even curry leaves can be added and you can also pressure cook adding the onions and vegies directly with rice.
