My favorite rasam from childhood..
I call this amma rasam..!
Let me go to the recipe.!
Ingredients:
To fry and grind:
Ghee-1tsp
Tuvar dal-2tsp
Dhaniya-1tbsp
Pepper -5
Red chili-2
Coconut-1tbsp
Cumin-1tsp
Asafetida-1/3tsp
For rasam:
Mashed tuvar dal-1/4cup
Tamarind juice-2 cups
Tomato-1 big
Turmeric-1/4tsp
Salt needed
Asafetida-1/4tsp
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves
Grated coconut-1/4tsp
Ghee-1tsp
Mustard- 1/4tsp
Method:
In a pan add oil and add the fry and grind ingredients.
Don’t fry cumin.. and add raw cumin while grinding the dry ingredients. Grind dry powder and no water.
Then in a vessel add tamarind juice,tomato,turmeric,salt,asafetida and allow it to boil for 2 mins. Then add the grounded powder and let it boil for 5 mins. Then add coriander leaves.. dal water and then let it foam. Add curry leaves and add coconut and temper with mustard in ghee.
