This dal is very simple and anyone will know it and not a unique dish and all.. I had this last weekend in my aunts house and really enjoyed it., no masalas or tadka were added to this.. just the real flavor and aroma of Ginger,bell peppers, and mashed dal.. simply loved it.. I added jalapeños.. which is an option. You can very well skip and just use only pepper powder. Jump on to the recipe.
Ingredients
Moong dal-1 cup(cooked and mashed)
Yellow bell pepper-1/4 cup
Orange bell pepper-1/4cup
Green bell pepper-1/4cup
Carrot-1
Tomato-1
Onion-1
Jalapeños -1/2
Ginger-1/2piece
Pepper powder-1tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
Salt as needed
Ghee-2tbsp
Coriander leaves
Lemon-1/2
Method:
Pressure cook moong dal and mash and keep aside.
You can use Masoor dal too.
Slice onions,tomato,bell peppers..and carrot.
Boil carrot separately..(optional)
Chop jalapeños and ginger.
In a pan add ghee..
Then add the jalapeños and ginger and the onions..
Then to it add turmeric,salt and the tomatoes.
Then after 2 mins add the tri color bell pepper and sauté for a min. And add pepper powder and cover it with lid and cook for 5mins.
Then add the carrot and mashed dal.
And add 1/2 cup of water and cover with lid and cook on low for 3 mins.
And drizzle with coriander leaves,lemon juice and a teaspoon of ghee.
