So why can’t you try making it. It’s simple and I am posting step by step picture for a better understanding. Let me start with ingredient list.!

INGREDIENTS:

Green peas -3/4 cup

Potato -3 (small)

Green bell pepper -1/4 piece

Orange bell pepper-1/4 piece

Tomato purée- 1 cup

Green chilies -3

Ginger -2 tbsp(grated)

Grated cheese- 2 tbsp

Olive oil-2 tsp

Turmeric-3/4 tsp

Salt as needed

Coriander powder-1 tsp

Fennel powder-1 tsp

Tandoori masala powder-1 tsp

Nutmeg powder-1/3 tsp

Kasuri methi -2 tsp

Coriander leaves

Lemon -1/2 cup

TEMPERING:

Ghee-1 tbsp

Dry chopped onions -2 tsp

Cardamom-2 piece

Bay leaf -1

Fennel -1 tsp

White sesame seeds-1 tsp(yellu)

Carom seeds-1 tsp (omam/ajwain)

So going to the method:

1. In a vessel add the dal, onions , potato and turmeric and add 2 cups of water (for 1 cup of dal) and pressure cook with four whistles

2. Boil peas and keep aside and make purée of three tomatoes. (I used boiled frozen peas and tomato purée can)

3. In a pan add olive oil and to it add the slit green chilies.

4. Then to it add 1/2 of the grated ginger

5. Then add the two variety of bell peppers(capsicum) & green peas.

6. Sauté well for two mins and then add turmeric and salt.

7. Then add a tsp of coriander powder and then fennel powder. Sauté for a two more mins and then to it add the tomato purée and also add 1/2 cup of water. Cover with lid.

8. Then after 4 mins open the lid and add tandoori masala (can be replaced with garam masala) and cook for a min.

9. Add the pressure cooked & mashed vegies and dal and add 1/2 cup of water.

10. To it add kasuri methi and cook for 5 mins on low.

11. Garnish with coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well. And add the grated cheese..

12. Grate in nutmeg powder (jadhikai) and add the balance fresh ginger to it.. mix well. (I personally love fresh ginger than sautéed )

13. Now temper the tempering items in ghee and garnish on the dal..

Serve hot with rice , chapathi, pulav or anything even it will do great with dosa..

NOTE:

I used four cheese.. you can use wats availble and also can use mozzarella

I used store bought tomato purée so it has enhanced the color and I dint add any coloring agent

I also have used store bought dry onions and you can skip that step if you don’t have or not interested .
