Pesarattu and tomato chutney

Pesarattu:

Ingredients

Green moong dal-2 cups

Green chili-1 big

Ginger-1/2 piece

Cumin-1 tsp

Coconut-1tbsp

Asafetida-1/4tsp

Rock salt-1/2tbsp

Onion-1

Coriander leaves

Method:

Soak green moong dal over night. Grind them in them morning in blender adding green chili,ginger,asafetida,coconut and salt into smooth paste.

Add cumin to the batter and make dosa by sprinkling chopped onions and coriander leaves. Capsicum or cheese can also be added for extra flavour.

A very delicious and a healthy andhra style dish.

Serve hot with tomato chutney and aviyal or sambar.

Tomato chutney

Ingredients:

Tomatoes-4

Onion -1

Red chili-3

Tamarind paste -1/2tsp

Asafetida-1/2tsp

Turmeric-1/4 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil-2tsp

Mustard-1/4tsp

Urud dal-1/2tsp

Coconut-1tbsp(optional)

Method:

In a blender add tomatoes,onions,tamarind paste,coconut and salt and chilies and blend well. In a pan add oil and mustard seeds and urud dal. When they turn in color add the puréed tomatoes and add turmeric and cover with lid and cook for 10mins. Chutney is ready to serve with idly,dosa,upma,and roti too.!
