Today’s lunch is the most South Indians favorite and comfortable and easy food Sambar rice..!

Such a tasty delicacy to tickle your taste buds.!

Here are the step by step procedure. Let’s jump on to the ingredients list and method.

Ingredients

Rice-1 cup

Thuvar dal-1/4 cup

Small onions-1/2 cup

Tomato-1

Potato-1

Carrot & peas-1/2 cup

Tamarind juice-2 cups

Sambar powder-1/2tsp

Turmeric-1/4tsp

Salt as needed

Asafetida-1/4 tsp

Gingely oil-1tbsp

Ghee-1tbsp

Oil-1tsp

Mustard-1/4tsp

Fenugreek -1/4tsp

Green chili-1

Curry leaves

Coriander leaves

To fry and grind:

Oil-1tsp

Red chili -2

Chana dal-2tsp

Coriander seeds-2tsp

Pepper corns-4

Asafetida-1/4tsp

Grated coconut

Method:

In a pan add oil and add the fry and grind items and powder them and keep it aside.

Then in a pan add oil and add mustard,fenugreek,green chili,curry leaves,onions and tomato.

After two minutes add the vegetables. And then add tamarind water.

Add turmeric,sambar powder,grounded powder,asafetida and salt.

On the other side mix rice and dal and pressure cook and mash them well and keep aside.

Then once the Sambar is ready add them to the rice and mix well. Add chopped coriander leaves.

Add the balance grounded powder and grated coconut. To it add the gingely oil and ghee and drizzle on top it.

Hot spicy Sambar rice is ready to serve with potato fry or cauliflower fry or any veggie of your choice and with some crispy’s chips or applam.
