This recipe of dosa is from Karnataka origin and a very popular dish..
Very easy and simple one to make..
Both the dosa and thooku..
Raw jack fruit dosa ingredients:
Raw white rice-1 cup
Raw jack fruit-4 pieces
Coconut-1/4 cup
Salt -1/2tbsp
Method
Soak rice for 2 to 3 hours or over night.
Grind along with coconut,raw jack fruit and salt and make it into a batter consistency..
And the dosa is ready to make..
Serve it with coconut chutney or tomato chutney or sambar..
I prepared this simple and easy tomato thokku and was a good combination..
Tomato thokku ingredients:
Ripe tomatoes-3
Oil-2tbsp
Mustard-1/2tsp
Urud dal-1/2tsp
Asafetida-1/4tsp
Turmeric-1/4tsp
Red chili powder-1tsp
Salt as needed
Sambar powder-1tsp
Roasted fenugreek powder-1/3tsp
Gingely oil-2tsp
Fresh curry leaves- an arch
Method
Finely chop the tomatoes and in a pan add oil,mustard seeds,urud dal,curry leaves and the tomatoes..
To it add turmeric,asafetida,salt,red chili powder,sambar powder..
Let it cook for 5 mins..
You can see oil separating from the thokku..
Drizzle with gingely oil and the fenugreek powder as preservative..
And the shelf life of thokku will be longer..
Just dry roast fenugreek seeds or in a teaspoon of oil and sauté and grind it into a powder and store it in airtight container.. it’s used as preservative for thokku and pickle..
