Sabudana kichdi

Sabudana kichdi (javarisi /tapioca) a popular Indian dish made with soaked sabudana (tapioca pearls) in different part of India.

They are consumed for breakfast or during fasting period.

Using this tapioca pearls we can also make kheer, and vadam(tambrahm) (tapioca pearl crispies)

They are rich in iron and helps maintain bone health adding this to your diet helps in health conditions like osteoporosis and other bone condition.

Even this keeps the blood pressure level under control. They are rich in folic acid and vitamin b and it’s a good option for people wanting to gain weight .

Prevents gas, indigestion and constipation problems too.

Jumping on to the recipe

INGREDIENTS:

Sabudana -3 cups

Onions-1 big

Green bell pepper-1

Green chilies -2

Peanuts -1/4 cup

Ginger-1/4piece

Turmeric-1/4 tsp

Salt as needed

Oil-2 tbsp

Mustard-1 tsp

Lemon-1/2

METHODOLOGY:

1. Wash and soak sabudana in cold water for 1 hour

2. Finely chop onions and capsicum. And slit green chilies and chop fingers too.

3. In a pan and add oil.

4. To it add the mustard seeds, once it splutters add the green chilies and ginger and sauté for a min then add the peanuts and sauté for a min and you will see the change of color of peanuts .

5. Now add the onion and capsicum and to it add turmeric and salt and cook for 3 mins covering with lid on low flame

6. Then add the soaked and washed sabudana to it and cover with lid and cook for 5 mins .

7. Once they turn glossy add the lemon juice and drizzle some coriander leaves and serve hot

Note:

•I boiled soaked sabudana for two mins washed in cold water and then added in the recipe. Choice is yours if you know to do it properly with out mashing the pearls

•You can also add boiled potatoes.

•Capsicum is an option

•Instead of green chilies you can also add red chili powder

• I added peanuts and also added the other items. Some may prefer to fry the peanuts and take it and keep it aside before starting the procedure

You can follow either ways. But the peanuts I added this way was still crunchy while eating.
